UNDERSTANDING THE USER
Creating hypothetical personas to determine who was my target audience for the app was key in the development and ideation of what features to include in my app. Simply observing the process my peers went through to find local live music events and even my own personal experience, became enough to inform the development of my app. Too much time was spent playing it by ear and relying on social media algorithms.
Furthermore, a lot of information available was limited and scattered, making it challenging to plan out just a week of events. I wanted to simplify this process and make it a less painful and more efficient experience.
My first problem to tackle was facilitating finding local live events in one place. Creating an interactive list of events organized in reverse chronological order is the basis of the app. Adding a social aspect would make the concett experience more immersive and connective, especially in a small college town like Gainesville. Finally, making it very customizable to the user with the use of a profile card to the kind of events you want to save for the future, adds a personable and indivualistic sense to the app.
